“Underestimated” – A Virtual Exhibition by Christina Drennan

August & September 2024

In my latest exhibition, Underestimated, I explore the beauty and potential of materials often discarded or overlooked. From waste thread cast aside by sewing machines to the loose wool that falls during the creation of a woven wall hanging, to fabric remnants from workshops—all of these elements are typically viewed as waste, but in my hands, they are reborn as art.

The exhibition reflects my philosophy that nothing should be underestimated. Each scrap of material has value and potential, waiting to be transformed into something meaningful. Through my work, I take these “underestimated” materials and weave them into a larger narrative, showing that beauty can emerge from what is often overlooked.

As you journey through Underestimated, you’ll see how sustainability, creativity, and resourcefulness come together to challenge our notions of waste and elevate it into art. Every piece in this exhibition tells a story—not only of craftsmanship but of the importance of seeing value in what we so often dismiss.

Join me in celebrating the power of the underestimated.
